Let’s talk about software in a rural, alpine environment…

Somewhere in the Alps, at 1648 meters height, more than 30 developers are going to meet in a few days and exchange their knowledge about coding. The difference between SoCraTes and your average outdoorsy business conference is the way the meetings are set:

The three-day-long software craft and testing conference is a so-called open space conference. This means that the program isn’t pre-defined. It is created every morning by the participants. Also, there are evening activities like chatting next to a campfire, fondue on a mountain, or enjoying the sauna and baths at bogn engiadina. Besides that playing games, hacking and other ad-hoc-sessions will happen too.

The event begins on Thursday evening, and the open space sessions will take place on Friday and Saturday. The official end of the conference is Sunday’s breakfast. That doesn’t mean that the participants aren’t allowed to continue having sessions, join the team for skiing, a walk or other ways to discover the beautiful alpine landscape.
